Let's Build Teddy's Field

Thank YOU for making our dream of Teddy's Field a reality!

Thank you for your kindness and generosity to build and gift Teddy’s Field to our community. This will be a safe and year-round usable sports playing field space in memory of our son, Teddy Wetzel, and in celebration of Evergreen youth sports programs, players, and coaches. Teddy's Field is a gift that will bring us together and allow for us to play, build memories, and enjoy our beautiful outdoors in Evergreen, Colorado for decades to come.

Seeing is believing!

As we emerge from this challenging time of isolation as a community, we are extremely grateful and excited to gift this new sports field space and outdoor athletic experience for our students, and our community, to come together to play on Teddy's Field.

The COVID pandemic and numerous unforeseen site development challenges could not stop our progress. We are so happy to report that, in a new partnership with Evergreen Parks & Recreation District (EPRD), we will commence construction of our new turf sports field project at Stagecoach Park in the heart of central Evergreen later this summer, with completion scheduled for September 30! This new site is one of the best (if not THE best!) central locations in all of Evergreen for a new turf multi-sport playing field.

Located across from Elk Meadow on the Evergreen Parkway, the field has substantial parking capacity and easy access for our entire community. We discovered the opportunity to move our project to this awesome new location while working to solve a development challenge (flood plain!) on our original field site. We learned Evergreen Parks and Recreation District had for some years been trying to install a new youth turf sports playing field at Stagecoach Park, and approached them about donating their location. After securing board approval, our new partnership with EPRD to install the field was born.

You made it possible to meet our institutional donor match! Together, as a community, we have personally donated, raised and/or received over $500,000. You made it possible to meet our match of $100,000 dollars from The Daniels Fund this past year as well. Thank you all! We are so close to the finish line!

The new higher-profile field location has increased project and development costs beyond our original estimates. In addition to its donations to date, to ensure completion of the project the Wetzel family plans to personally fund the final additional project cost variance, and has also committed a ten (10) year annual funding commitment to support ongoing and future maintenance of the field.

We invite you to join us on the final leg of our journey to bring our new multi-sport playing field to Evergreen.
